Thunnus thynnus

Atlantic Bluefin Tuna

A migratory species in the North Atlantic, capable of reaching 3 meters in length and over 650 kg. Known for rapid swimming, high metabolic rates, and elevated body temperatures, it spawns in warm waters and feeds on small fish and cephalopods. Highly prized for sushi/sashimi, its meat is rich in omega-3 fatty acids.

Seabass

Found from Norway to Senegal, this species can reach 1 meter in length and live up to 20 years. It spawns in late winter and spring, feeding on small fish and crustaceans. Esteemed for its delicate flavor and versatility, seabass is popular in Mediterranean cuisines and commands a high market value.

Seabream

Widely distributed in the Mediterranean and eastern Atlantic, seabream can grow up to 70 cm and live 20 years. An omnivorous species, it spawns in spring and summer. Known for its mild flavor and firm texture, it’s a staple in Mediterranean cuisines and enjoys popularity in upscale restaurants.

Greater Amberjack

Spanning the Atlantic and into the eastern Pacific, the Greater Amberjack can grow up to 1.5 meters and weigh 70 kg. It feeds on fish, squid, and crustaceans, with spawning in spring and early autumn. Appreciated for its firm, flavorful flesh, it’s targeted for sport fishing and aquaculture.

Argyrosomus regius

Meagre

Inhabiting the Atlantic from Portugal to South Africa, meagre can reach 2 meters and weigh over 50 kg. A predator feeding on fish, cephalopods, and crustaceans, it spawns offshore in spring/summer. Valued for its rapid growth and culinary appeal, its firm, mild-flavored flesh is suited for various cooking methods.
