Agadir, Morocco | February 7, 2025 – Alta Mar proudly hosted a successful side event at the prestigious Halieutis Fair, under the theme “From Fjords to the Atlantic: Applying Norwegian Aquaculture Expertise in Moroccan Waters.”
The event highlighted the collaboration between Norway and Morocco in sustainable aquaculture, with a particular focus on Alta Mar’s pioneering project in Safi, the first Norwegian aquaculture company established in Morocco.

- Alta Mar’s Vision and Project:
Mr. Jan-Helge Dahl presented Alta Mar’s comprehensive approach, highlighting its investment in cutting-edge aquaculture facilities in Safi, including a hatchery, offshore cages, and a state-of-the-art processing unit. He emphasized the project’s ambition to become a global leader in the production of high-value species such as Atlantic Bluefin Tuna, Seabass, Seabream, Greater Amberjack, and Meagre. - Interactive Discussions:
The event concluded with a vibrant Q&A session, where industry experts, government representatives, and stakeholders discussed the potential for future collaboration and the significant role Alta Mar will play in Morocco’s aquaculture development.
A Model of Sustainability and Growth
Alta Mar’s project aims to promote innovation, create over 400 direct jobs and 1,200 indirect jobs, and contribute to Morocco’s food security. With a strong focus on sustainability and knowledge transfer, Alta Mar is working closely with leading Norwegian institutions and local stakeholders to ensure long-term success.
